The second blog assignment

Post a message on your own blog. Our topic is music. This assignment is worth 10 points and must be completed by Wednesday, June 24.

You might know Nelly Furtado, a Canadian who is known internationally for her talents as a singer, songwriter, music producer and actress. Born in Victoria, BC, she now lives in Toronto, which she calls "the most multicultural city in the entire world". This mix of cultures, she says, allows her to experience various types of music. As a result she can experiment with diverse musical genres. Her more recent hits show some of this influence, and her music videos feature performers of various racial backgrounds.

If you watch her later music videos, you will see a certain flamboyance, different from her more wholesome performance in the video for her earlier hit, I'm Like a Bird. One of her most recent hits in the US was performed with Justin Timberlake. In 2009, she plans to release albums sung in Spanish and Portuguese.

In fact, I don't know that much about Nelly Furtado, but I thought she might be familiar to some of you. It's less likely that you would know some of my favourite singers.

So what is the assignment for you? Please do the same thing. On your own blog, post a message about a singer or musical group that you would like to share with your classmates. If you have any weblinks that provide more information, please share those too, so we can find out more. For Nelly Furtado, I used Wikipedia and the link is below. Wikipedia is not an appropriate academic source, but for this assignment it is acceptable. Of course, you can use any source that you like.
